概要 Some examples of direct contradictions between the influences drawn from the two conventional methods (longitudinal and cross-sectional) for development and growth of human attributes were tabulated a...nd referenced by some authors. In this article it was discussed that the rationale behind the adoption of two or more factorial design to research the growth and development of high school boy's motor ability. The subjects were selected from the population of the high school boys in Fukuoka-city in Japan. They were entered into the high school from 1973 to 1976 (their cohorts). This study involves repeated measurements during 3-years of their high school life and during each examination period 5 measurements on each boy were taken. These measurements included variables to monitor changes in motor ability (50 M Dash, Running Long Jump, Hand Ball Throw, Chinning and 1500M Run). This data file were used to evaluate the age contribution, cohort contribution and their interaction by two way analysis of variance. The results obtained were summarised as follows. 1). In 50 M dash and handball throw, age effects and age x cohorts interaction significantly contributed to their performance, wheareas cohort effect not significantly contributed. 2). In running long jump and chinning, age effects were recognized as having a significant contribution, whereas their interaction had not significant contribution. 3). Cohort effect and age x cohort interaction significantly contributed to development of 1500M endurance run, whereas the contribution of age effect was not significant, and by the comparison between cells, the constant inclination were not recognized. 4). It is expected that 50M dash and handball throw were the valid indices for observining the development of the motor ability inthis age stage. It seems to be no bias between cross-sectional and longitudinal data. 5). It seems to exist a confounding from cohort difference in cross-sectional running long jump and chinning. 6). Fifteenfive hundreds meter endurance run seem not acculately to evaluate the age changes, and this test has a problem resulting from subjects' motivation to measurement.続きを見る
