Rapid detection of virulence factors of pathogens is important in diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Certain strains of Staphylococcus aureus express either or both of two related, but im...munologically distinct, exfo-liative toxins (ETA and ETB). These toxins cause staphylococcal scalded-skin syndrome (SSSS). We describe here the development of a real-time PCR detection method for the genes for ETA and ETB. We believe this method is useful for rapid and reliable identification of ET produciug S. aureus.続きを見る
