概要 This paper considers the reasons that have lead to the rapid growth in higher education of medical staff and some of the problems that have resulted. Higher education of nursing staff has been the dri...ving force behind higher education of medical staff generally. A background to this study has been an increase in higher educational levels in society as a whole, rapid medical advancements and an increase in the number of medical fields and specialties. The major purpose of medical higher education is to provide patients with the highest possible standard of medical care and treatment. However, many believe that this has lead to conflicts involving status and roles in medical work. For this reason, the increase in higher education of medical staff is producing new problems. In this paper, the state of the change in the education of co-medical staff, nursing staff and doctors is discussed, based on the result of a poll of medical technologists. Although inadequacies in present educational arrangements for medical technologists were recognized by respondents, there was a generally slightly negative response to the idea that higher education for this group should exceed 4 years. Medical technologists attached most importance to practical education and training which raises their capability to respond flexibly "on the spot" in clinical situations. In nursing, although higher education is increasingly common, driven in part by a desire to improve status, the following problems were seen. (1) Lack of clarity as to the purpose of higher education. (2) decrease in specialization and ability within specializations. (3) Shortage of clinical capability and experience (4) Conflict between nursing staff of different educational levels and practical clinical experience in clinical situations. (5) Deviation with the needs of the clinical spot Tension between the clinical need in some contexts for less well educated but clinically competent staff, and nursing staffs desire for higher education, status and financial reward. Although it was expected that the higher education of nursing and medical technologists will progress, it was thought that it was necessary to clarify the purpose.続きを見る
