Abstract The people come to write down various information after a thing of the Edo era for a half term. I pay attention to information about the Westerner in particular. The book that a seaside dweller wrote ...down information is transmitted in the Fukuoka feudal clan. Many foreign ships appeared at the Japanese coast at the end in the Edo era. In such an environment, the seaside dweller often obtained the information about the foreign ship. A lot of information about such a foreign ship and a Westerner is written in a text. I analyze such a text which the seaside dweller of the Fukuoka feudal clan wrote. On such analysis, I want to examine an image of the Westerner whom a seaside dweller formed.
