Abstract The purpose of this study is to clear the relation between experiences and personal relationships of self-help group (SHG) member. The investigation was conducted to 126 members of Seikatu-no-hakkenka...i (the membership is over 5000) a SHG for the neurotic in Japan. The findings were followings: (1) There was 4 factor structure on experiences with SHG members. the feeling actually a sense of belonging, enjoyment of ease, mutual self-disclosure and the reconstruction of a recognition. (2) Experiences of the feeling actually a sense of belonging, enjoyment of ease and the reconstruction of recognition are well done in connection with personal relationships with SHG members (the guide line were followings, activity with SHG members out of SHG. the number of friends in SHG and the degree of intimacy). Experiences of mutual self-disclosure are not done in connection with personal relationships. (3) Anthropophobia members don't feel intimacy to the other and don't experience enjoyment of ease, compared with other neurotic members. The importance of personal relationship to SHG experiences was discussed from these findings.show more
