Abstract The present study examines the relationship between degrees of flat affect and emotional expression adjustment of schizophrenic patients in their interaction with partners.54 schizophrenia patients we...re assessed by Positive and negative syndrome scale as two groups of severe and mild flat affect. They asked to view emotional films clips, and during their report about the VTR's impression, their facial and verbal expressions were videotaped. Verbal expression analysis indicated the stereotypes reflection during report in the severe group, while the past experiences effect during report in mild group became delineated. Also emotional expression analysis indicated more maladjustment expression against interaction process in severe group than mild group. These findings are consists with the notion that emotional experiences are contribute to the severity of flat affect, for this reason in compare to severe group, mild group is able to regulate emotional expression in interaction. So the present study suggests importance of regulation of emotional expression.show more
