Abstract This review paper begins with a brief history of research on localization followed by its definition and classification. It also presents important parameters of localization and factors that affect l...ocalization. The paper gives an overview of the two-process model and highlights its limitations. A careful review exposed inadequacies in the model in particular and in localization research in general warranting a clear need for further investigations. Here the author reports findings of his seven experiments and, based on them, proposes a model. According to the proposed model, two factors, one is the point of fixation or 'fovea' and the other is the point of attention or 'pseudo fovea', together determine the vector of error in localization.show more
