第二言語教育と非流暢性 : 日本語会話教育への応用を視野に

| 概要 | 本稿の目的は、日本語会話教育において、非流暢性をどのように取り入れていくべきかを探求することである。従来の研究では「非流暢性」は消極的に定義されることが多かったが、本稿では「発話・会話の進行性の滞り」として積極的に定義する。その上で、非流暢性が会話という相互行為において果たすコミュニケーション機能を「感情・態度の表出」、「ポライトネス・ストラテジー」、「修復ストラテジー」の三つに分類し、それぞれを...概観する。また、これらを踏まえ、第二言語教育、特に日本語会話教育という枠組みの中で、非流暢性を導入する必要性及び留意点を検討する。さまざまな形態や機能を有する非流暢性のうち、通言語的で、韻律的な（prosodic）ものよりも、個別言語的で、言語的な（linguistic）もの、かつ修復ストラテジーとして機能するもののほうを優先的に扱うべきだということ、および、実際に導入する際、紙媒体より、音声媒体を用い、学習者の耳に直接訴えかけるほうが効果的ではないかという指摘を行う。 The aim of this paper is to explore how disfluency should be incorporated into Japanese conversation education. Although previous studies have often taken a negative approach by defining disfluency as simply “not fluent,” this paper attempts a more positive definition: disfluency as “a disruption in the progressivity of utterance or conversation.” Based on this definition, the communicative functions of disfluency in interaction are broadly categorized into three types: (1) expression of emotions and attitudes, (2) politeness strategies, and (3) repair strategies. Each category is then reviewed. Building on these discussions, the paper examines both the necessity of incorporating disfluency into second language education— particularly within the context of Japanese conversation instruction—and the points that require attention in doing so. Among the various types and functions of disfluency, the paper argues that features that are language-specific and linguistic (rather than cross-linguistic or prosodic), and that function as repair strategies, should be prioritized. Furthermore, it proposes that when introducing such features, audio-based educational materials that directly appeal to learners’ ears are likely to be more effective than printed materials.続きを見る |
