Abstract |
In this paper, I will argue for the continuance of the world as an educational role with historical and cultural perspectives in some essays from her book, Between Past and Future. With regard to the ...educational role, Arendt pointed out that the preservation of the public world, and the protection of the innovative character of children ontributes to the permanence of the world. This public world has existed across generations hrough the political actions of mature people who care of the works and identities. Educators had taught this public world as it is and supported children to become political actors with their authority. However, in “The Crisis in Education” , Arendt emphasized the break in the tradition in the modern world, then suggested rethinking the attitude of the past of educators to inherit the public world for the children without authority. Arendt’ s argument has been discussed in terms of her position as either Innovative or Conservative. The other essays, “The Crisis in Culture” and “The Concept of History” help us to grasp what makes the world permanent and how to understand past humanistic affairs and things. From this, we can take a deeper look at two characteristics, Innovativeness and Conservativeness.show more
