Abstract To clarify the career developing process, the actual conditions of ongoing career life and career orientations of elite high school soccer players, a research was undertaken. The subjects of this res...earch were 280 elite high school athletes who were belonging to 16 high schools. The main results were as follows. Athletes were exclusively involved in soccer from the earlier time of their life. Soccer was a significant part of their life, and they wanted to be a superior athlete in the future. They started to play soccer at the local and school clubs with their self decision and the influences of media and friends. For a few people, soccer was an influential factor to go on to junior high school. In contrast to the above, when people went on to high school, soccer became a crucial factor. These findings of this study partly supported the existing results concerning to the career developing process as an elite athlete. They spend 1 to 2 months a year for an expedition. It was supposed that their anxieties about their future life, occupational status and academic ability were caused by this fact.
