Abstract Starting from the C_<10>-synthon (an iridoid derivative), obtained from the de Mayo reaction of methyl acetopyruvate and isoprene, several biologically-active terpenoids have been synthesized stereose...lectively. Some new synthetic methodologies, such as the lactol-regulated Cope rearrangement and the kinetically-controlled dissolving metal reduction, are also described.show more
