The purpose of this study was to investigate how perceptions and emotions about self-injury affect helping behavior. Based on the questionnaire items developed in the preliminary survey, a scale for perceptions of self-injury and helping behavior was constructed, and after classifying emotions about self-injury into 4 clusters, we examined how perceptions of self-injury affect helping behavior for each emotion cluster. The results showed that the influence of the perception of self-injurious behavior on helping behavior differed for each emotion cluster. However, since this study did not examine factors related to the occurrence of emotions, it is necessary to explore the reasons for the occurrence of various emotions that occur during self-injury and other factors in the future. It may be necessary to reconsider the questionnaire items more carefully and to include questions about relationships.
