The purpose of this study is to report on the process of the training program for facilitators of structured encounter group as the basic training program, based on the ideas of Motoyama and Nagano (2008) and Nojima (2016), and to discuss its effectiveness. Self-Assessment Facilitator Functions Scale (Kaneko et al., 2021) was measured before and after the training. The subjects were 14 graduate students and alumni who wanted to be trained and were assigned to facilitator in rotation. After the session, the participants reflected on the setting of the group structure, the intention of the warm-up and exercises, ethical considerations, and responses for each member. The scale scores increased after the training, indicating a certain effect of this program. It is said that member experience, verbalization of experience, and feedback from members are related to the increase in facilitator function. It is believed that the self-evaluation of facilitator function of the subject was improved because the post-session reflection, which was a feature of this training, could be an opportunity to introspect their own experiences.
