近世障害者史研究の成果と課題 : 生瀬克己の研究を事例に

| 概要 | 障害学の議論のなかで歴史研究に注目されたり、障害史研究が登場したりと、近年は近世以前も含めて障害者の歴史研究が盛んになっている。ただしそういった近年の研究では、1990年代まで先行研究の議論が十分評価されていない。そこで本稿ではそれらのうちより生瀬克己の研究について、その成果とともに課題も確認した。障害当事者である生瀬は、近世の障害者の人口や領主による保護や障害観など、多様な視角から障害者の歴史を...明らかにした。またはじめて障害種別ごとではなく「障害者」の歴史の研究という枠組みを示したり、障害者関連の史料を収録した史料集を編纂したりといった、それまでの研究にはない大きな特徴や成果を残した。一方で本稿では、生瀬の議論には関心が障害者差別へ偏るあまり、具体的な暮らしの実態解明が進まない、「障害」という名の差異でしか差別の原因を説明できていないなどの課題がみられること、また近世の人々が障害者に対して示した態度にみられるという「差別 対 友愛」という構図に実証性の不十分さがあることや、地域性を考慮していない点なども指摘した。そのうえで本稿では、今後の障害者の歴史研究の参考として、結婚等の暮らしの実態解明、差別と友愛は一体であるとの見方、権力の意向をそのまま現実のものと捉えず相対化して考えてみるといった視点を、事例を交えつつ提示してみせた。 With the research of disability history gaining much attention within the discussion of disability studies, along with the emergence of the journal of disability history studies, historical studies on disabled people have flourished in the modern era. However, there has been a lack of critique on the discussion of research up until 1990. Thus, within this said research, I examined the results and issues of the research of Katsumi Namase. A disabled person herself, Namase revealed the history of disable people from a variety of perspectives such as the modern population of disable people, protection via authorities, and attitude towards disabilities. Furthermore, she left great results and a huge imprint on the research field, as she was the first to reveal the mechanism of using historical studies of disabled people as a whole rather than distinguishing between the different types of disabilities, and compiled historical records related to disabled people. Conversely, this paper points out that Namase’s arguments: carry a prejudiced sentiment towards disabled people; do not progress in explaining the actual situation around the lives of disabled people; oversimplify the origin of prejudice against disabled people by attributing it solely to the “disabled” label; lack validity in the composition of “prejudice and fellowship” seen in the modern-day attitude towards disable people; and do not consider regional factors. From there, as a reference for future historical studies on disabled people, this paper uses real examples to demonstrate: concrete explanations of the lives of disabled peoples in areas such as marriage; the viewpoint that prejudice and fellowship are one and the same; and the perspective of relatively thinking through the intentions of authority without capturing the current reality.続きを見る |
