Abstract |
This paper focuses on the building of the Salt Monopoly Bureau designed by TSUMAKI Yorinaka and his associates in the Late Meiji Era. The study is aimed at clarifying the method of design standardizat...ion and grade classification system to build numerous facilities throughout Japan. (1) The L-shaped plan of sixth-grade office acted as a standard for the others, because it was a middle class of sub-branch office from the fourth to the eighth grade. (2) The plans of upper-grade offices were designed later by adding some rooms to the standard plan or enlarging each room. Various decorative elements were also attached. (3) Some slightly altered plans such as left-right reversed one were created, in order to adapt to various site conditions.show more
