Quantitative electron probe microanalysis was performed on two kinds of oxide minerals, galaxite and jacobsite, using various methods of correction. Experimental conditions are as follows: accelating ...voltage, 15KV; specimen current, 0. 015μA (on pure iron-metal); spot of electron beam, 10吟; standard specimens, pure metals (Mn, Fe, Al, Zn, Ti, Ni, Mg) ; analytical crystals, LiF (MnKa, FeKa, ZnKa, NiKa), KAP (AlKa, MgKa), PET (TiKa). The emitted X-ray intensites from samples and standard specimens are obtained as mean values of ten sets of counts per ten seconds for each emission, and corrected for background and dead time. On the basis of the relative intensities obtained, absorption and atomic number corrections are made using the following procedures. The absorption correcctions are calculated by PHILIBERT'S (1963) and ADLER and GOLDSTEIN'S (1965) procedures. The atomic number corrections are calculated by the methods of POOLE and THOMAS (1963), SMITH (1965), REED (1964), and DUNCUMB and REED (1968). These results are discussed, and it is concluded that the absorption correction by the PHILIBERT's method and the atomic number correction by the DUNCUMB and REED's method may be more suitable compared to the other methods.続きを見る
