Abstract Ullmannite has been found in silver-lead-zinc veins from the Taishu-Shigekuma mine. The mineral shows two modes of occurrence in terms of mineral assemblage; partly as a veinlet cutting siderite and s...phalerite, and mainly as relicts of myrmekite consisting of sphalerite and ullmannite in argentian tetrahedrite and chalcopyrite. Ullmannite is from 2 to 10 microns across, but rarely attains to 40 microns. In reflected light, the mineral is white and isotropic. Its microhardness values range from 453 to 515 with a load of 10g. Electron microprobe anaysis of ullmannite crystals shows that they are from (Ni_0.95 Co_0.03Zn_0.01) Sb_1.01S_0.98 to (Ni_0.96Co_0.02Fe_0.02Zn_0.01) Sb_1.02S_0.97
