Abstract |
Academic records of Professor Nobuo KATAYAMA are concisely described on the occasion of his retirement on April 1st, 1973 from Kyushu University. From 1933 to 1951 Dr. KATAYAMA's research works were p...rimarily concerned with morphology of various kinds of minerals, of which that of Daiton sulphur is a celebrated example. Furthermore during the period of his engagement with the Geological Survey of Japan (1939-49), Dr. KATAYAMA contributed valuable reports on ore deposits of jarosite, among many others. After he came back to the University of Tokyo in 1949, Professor KATAYAMA gave outstanding contribution to the genesis of germanium and uranium deposits. This work was developed to the general problem on the relation of water and ore deposits, which he continued to study in Kyushu University. The results are summarized in a paper by himself in this volume.show more
