西南日本外帯, 四国沖ノ島花閾岩類に発達する引張り節理系 : 新第三紀後期の四万十帯の広域応力場について

概要 The granitic rocks of Okinoshima islet in the Shimanto belt, Outer zone of Southwest Japan, are characterized by the prevalence of the two joint sets crossing perpendicularly each other, i.e. one stri...kes N60°E and the other N30°W both dipping vertically, as SuwA (1967) described. The topography of Okinoshima islet is strongly affected by the joint sets. The detailed form of the joint sets are shown on the plates 9 and 10. Some published papers appear to show that in the granitic rocks of Minamiosumi and Yakushima distributed in the Shimanto belt as well as in those of Okinoshima, the two sets of vertical joints generally exist, i.e. one is nearly paralell and the other is nearly perpendicular to the Southwest Honshu arc or the Nanseishoto arc. The former set inclines to be slightly more dominant than the latter. From the distribution and the mode of occurrence of the joint sets, it is coneluded that they are not the result of the tensional stress caused by cooling contraction of the granitic rocks, nor by the shear stress caused by regional compressional stress field, but are formed mainly by the regional tensional stress at shallower level of underground in the period of regional uplift and erosion. Moreover, from the inclination of the dominant joint set, it is inferred that the perpendicular direction to the arcs, to which the axis of the maximum principal compressional stress had been paralell in the period of subsidence, deposition and deformation from Cretaceous to Paleogene, was coincident with the direction of the axis of the minimum principal compressional stress in the period of uplift and erosion during the late Neogene, after the intrusion and solidification of the granitic rocks in the Shimanto belt. In relation to geothermal resources, the possibility is mentioned that tension joint systems developed in granitic rocks etc., are important as flow paths and/or reservoirs of geothermal fluids.続きを見る
