Abstract | Over the past years the scale of Japanese education has expanded rapi dly in China. A nation-w id e Japanese testing system is being operated. However, most officially conducted tests are paper tests ...emphasizing reading and grammar. Communicative competency tests are usually not examined in this kin d of tests. This paper aims to explore a method to test Chinese JFL learners'communicative competency. In reference to similar tests in Korea and America. a pilot investigation on OPI was carrie d out. Since so far there has not been any OPI Japanese test in China, the communication software, Skype, was used to conduct the OPI test. The result of the test suggests that there is no significant difference regarding effect between using OPI via Skype and normal OPI test. However this pilot test is done in a less ideal condition and there are some limitations affecting the accuracy of the result. Finally, ju dging from the result of the interview, Chinese learners have demonstrated a positive and curious attitude towards OPI test. So there is reason to expect a positive prospect of the introduction of OPI to China. In the future . I will continue to exp lore the possibility of using the Internet or telephone to conduct this kind of test. And I will further the research by consolidating factors concerning the environment of the experiment and increase the number of participants.show more |
