Abstract | Japanese mimetic words are a difficult theme for Japanese learners to comprehend. Do mimetic words which appear in dictionaries, literature, and girls'comics function the same? The mimetic words... used in girls'comics have unique styles and functions, and they are different from those found in dictionaries or literature. In this study, research was undertaken to examine the morphological and semantic features of mimetic words in girls'comics and to determine what should be taken into consideration when girls' comics are used for learning and teaching Japanese mimetic words. A particular language can be described better, when it is compared with another language. In both Japanese and Korean languages, mimetic words play an important role in describing not only physical actions and states but also mental states. However, there are some differences between the kinds of words used in Japanese and Korean girls'comics. This paper aims to reveal characteristics of Japanese mimetic words which express shock, by comparing them with those of Korean mimetic words. I investigated'mental shock'mainly on a popular mimetic word in this study, analyzed it and was able to grasp a whole aspect, but I was deep and was not able to study it fully. In the future, I want to include problems such as in the field of vision and push forward the study.show more |
