| 概要 | The purpose of this paper is to criticize Yael Tamir's "multinationalism", especially the contradiction between her theoretical background and her concept of international order. Although Tamir is def...initely skeptical of liberal principle of neutrality on the nation states level as other liberal nationalists do, on the level of regional arrangements, she tacitly recognizes it. In short, her argument is self-contradictory on this point. The reason why she falls into this illogical conclusion is her absence of critical consideration about the concept of "region." According to some constructivists, a region is socially constructed on common ethno-cultural values (religions, languages and etc.) so is a nation. In other words, a region is the cognitive (imagined) one. If so, the regional organization like EU cannot be purely culturally neutral. It means that not only the nation state level, but also the regional arrangements level, socio-political institution is closely related to ethno-cultural elements as liberal nationalists clearly insist. If Tamir wants to assert that national self-determination might best be attained within a larger regional framework, she should show us the positive proof of it. Her multinationalism is theoretically fragile due to lack of the evidence.続きを見る |
