Abstract This joint research will consider the history of the relationship between each “Imperial University’s forests” in the “Inner/Outer land field” that has not been fully clarified until now. The Universi...ty forest exists as a <quasi-department> for a university organization, and is a overlapping organization with a vast site, samples for research and training, and an operational sector related to afforestation and logging. Because of these organizational characteristics of the field practice forest, this research aims to open up a new research horizon by integrating the specialized fields of the humanities and sciences, such as “University Archives” “Technical history/technical bureaucracy” “Regional history” and “Environmental history” which are difficult to handle in the narrow sense of “university history”. One of the main goals of this research is to share information and conduct joint research with local universities (South Korea: Seoul National University, Kyongsang National University, Kyongnam National University of Science and Technology; Taiwan: National Taiwan University, Chungking University, etc.) that are “inheritance” the former Imperial University’s forest in areas which are currently outside Japan, such as Sakhalin, the Korean Peninsula, and Taiwan.show more
