Abstract Equation to predict urinary creatinine excretion (UcrV) from age, body weight (BW), body height (BH), body surface area (BSA) and lean body mass (LBM) were developed based on data for UcrV determined ...by collecting 24-hour urine for at least 3 days in 256 adult male and 231 adult female healthy subjects. The method of forward stepwise regression analysis was adopted to establish the regression equation. Multiple regression analysis revealed that age, BSA and BW contributed most to the measured value of UcrV. In female subjects, however, LBM also highly contributed to that of UcrV. The regression equations obtained from age, BW and BH were as follows. Y(male) = -12.63 x Age + 15.12 x BW + 7.39 x BH + 79.90 Y(female) = -4.72 x Age + 8.58 x BW + 5.09 x BH + 74.95 The multiple correlation coefficients were 0.872 for males and 0.727 for females, respectively. An analysis of residuals by means of plotting of standardized residuals and predicted atandardized dependent variables showed no remarkable deficiencies in both sexes, suggesting that these equations are applicable to the evaluation of urinary creatinine excretion. LBM derived from skinfold and BW could be one of the most contributable variables to predict UcrV, especially for female subjects.show more
