Abstract Language meanings are normally interpreted in real communicational contexts including social, cultural, political, historical as well as other factors and they can have various effects on the world. N...ot only an ordinary speech act can be performed, but also a manipulative interaction with a persen or a social group. Thus, language in use can have the power of both influencing, and changing the world. The effective functions of language use have their origins not only in language itself, but in the concrete socio-culturai relations and human activities as well, which make up the entire world-reality. Human actions with language are based on a rich cultural foundation, and this again is based on very complex sociai, political, historical, and other factors. An irrational use of language, for example , can be criticized correctly, if we recognize it not only as a language matter but as a more complex matter, which can be observed in the wide and comprehensive view proposed in this series of discussions. We must have deep and accurate knowledge of both how language functions and gets its meaning in the real context. We can thus avoid misuses of laaguage, which can possibly cause troubles which can eventuaily disturb rationag human lives and social relations. Moreover, we are then able to make our lnaguage-actions as reasonable as possible based on our own judgement, which of course, is one of most important factors for the world to progress in a democratic and peaceful way.show more
