| 概要 | In this paper we describe an Animating Character Displaying Method as an area of study which incorporates the dynamic visual treatment of text as an extension of written language. We considered differ...ent ways of text presentations on digital media. They are Upward scroll, Horizontal scroll, Shift, RSVP (Rapid Visual Serial Presentation) Character, RSVP/ Phrase. We applied a method of reading comprehension test and made a testing tool built from a Java applet to measure the speed of reading and comprehension. This tool has speed control buttons, so that the subject can choose his/her own easy-to-read text-presentation speed. We evaluated as follows: 1. Subjects read the text printed on a paper and answered questions related to the contents. We measured their reading speed and comprehension as they took the tests. 2. We prepared Web pages, each pages with its own reading speed testing tool, where the subject could choose his/ her own easy-to-read speed for reading the text. The Web pages have five different presentation methods for the test. 3. Subjects read the text on each computer screen at their own easy-to-read speed as obtained in step 2. For each presentation method, we measured the time it required reading and answering the questions. We then checked his/her comprehension of the contents. 4. Compared the results of step I and 3. With this experiment, we obtained the trend of each presentations. Also we discussed about the effect of animating character displaying method to user's reading.続きを見る |
