Abstract The purpose of this study is to reveal from the viewpoint of gender how the traditional gender role awareness of female workers and of their husbands affects their mental health. Questionnaire researc...h was conducted to 310 female married civil-service workers in Fukuoka Pref. The questionnaire contained gender check, MHP (Mental Health Pattern), traditional gender role of family life and attributes associated with objects. Its result shows that the stronger traditional gender role awareness of female workers and of their husbands affects more their mental health and is related to the higher stress on their mental, social and physical aspects significantly. Furthermore, it becomes evident that quantity of their free-time on weekdays, the presence of their husbands' domestic labor support and their satisfaction with sex life with husbands have relations with individual influential factors for their MHP score. Those results imply the need of mental support with the perspective of the gender-related stress in order to assist female workers' health.show more
