Abstract | The promotion of biomass usage is crucial with regard to both addressing problem of global warming and promoting recycling oriented society. However, introducing a technology to covert biomass is not ...enough for effective orientation of the biomass system. Further, biomass resources are dispersed scarcely and widely. Thus, it is important to achieve regional partnership for leverage resources. In fact, it can be said that a key to successfully promoting the biomass system is to make all relevant actors aware of the benefits of introducing system. The purpose of this study is to report on the case study of the agglomeration of biomass industries by a private sector initiative in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, and to highlight the characteristics of this area. A field work was conducted to explore the following four factors; (1) concrete corporate strategies related to organic waste management, (2) collaborative networks among companies in the same business, (3) problems related to the consumption and leverage resources, (4) corporate culture based on local tradition and charitable contributions to society and, (5) the government administration’s role in creating a recycling oriented society.show more |
