Abstract | My research notes that the number of people visiting Fukuoka City, as well as the Tenjin area, the largest commercial district of Kyushu, has been declining year after year and surprisingly, the shift... away from Tenjin has been understood. It goes without saying that the main reason for this trend can largely be attributed to factors relating to various commercial bases. However, at the same time, fundamental issues with the city relating to the Tenjin area cannot be ignored. Certainly we have been taught anew about the necessity of compound vision when studying a city. When examining a series of commercial survey reports centering on the Tenjin area as data, there is one point to keep in mind regarding the survey method. Namely, that here too, the aforementioned reports are entirely focused on the survey and analysis of the Tenjin area as a commercial base. One of the reasons for this is that the people in charge with undertaking the survey research are all social science related commerce and economic specialists. An analysis derived from cross-disciplinary cooperation by allowing natural science related specialists in such fields as engineering and architecture to participate in research is necessary. The same applies to the processes involved in town planning. We believe that a program bringing together various viewpoints from various specialists is necessary. Research this time looks at various issues focusing on (1) what are some points to keep in mind regarding the necessary viewpoints for town development activities, and (2) what form should town development activities take and which specialists should be involved, and examines their direction. The outcome of this research is that we believe, when undertaking town development activities in partnership with the local government and residents, that there is a need for three major steps, town development plan, town development fostering, and town development reviews, a program taking into account the viewpoints, as well as a need to train specialistsshow more |
