概要 |
A method to convert the reference level of chart depths from the lowest tide level to the mean sea level was developed to improve the quality of bathymetry datasets of the East and South China seas. T...he conversion was made by referring to a newly compiled database of the offset value (Z0) derived from that listed in tide tables. Numerical simulations using the revised East China Sea bathymetry revealed that the depth correction lead to 40% reduction of the RMS difference between the predicted and observed M2 tidal amplitudes, mainly due to the changes at regions with shallow depths and large tidal range such as the Korean west coast and the Southwestern Yellow Sea. It was also found that the global bathymetry dataset GEBCO2019 uses chart depths without applying the correction and the mismatch between the zero level for the land and sea seems to have caused erroneous depths at intertidal zones.続きを見る
