Abstract |
The educational program of using simulated patients to develop communication skills for nursing students have widely been accepted because of its various advantages. A simulated patient is a healthy p...erson, but required to state the histories of illness (present or past) or family, habitual and social circumstances, and to play a role of actual patients physically or emotionally. To elucidate educational effects and further problems of this procedure, we have reviewed seventy-nine nursing students' reports, which were offered after completing the program. Nursing students recognized the importance of the favorable relation to patients, and this result could be achieved by the practice using simulated patients. Therefore, we need to accomplish an educational system for nursing students to cultivate communication skills by taking account of the developed steps of students in accordance with responded information from simulated patients.show more
