概要 Citizenship Education was introduced into the secondary curriculum in England in 2002. It has the three strands (social and moral responsibility, community involvement and political literacy). The aim... was the promotion of active citizenship. This means becoming a citizen that can participate in political action and it was influenced by the Crick Committee report. Citizenship Education was changed after the London Bombing in 2005. The Ajegbo Review recommended adding a new strand, ‘Identity and Diversity' to Citizenship Education. Community Cohesion was introduced in the 2007 reformed national curriculum to promote Citizenship Education in terms of the 'Identity and Diversity'. Now, Schools have a duty to promote community cohesion, and from 2008 OfSTED has been required to inspect and report on the contributions made in this area. This paper looks at the transition of Citizenship Education In terms of 'duty to promote Community Cohesion'. It shows that Citizenship Education concerns not only school education but also social education which will become long life education. In conclusion, I emphasize that 'the duty to promote Community Cohesion' will become more important in supporting Citizenship Education.続きを見る
