Abstract We study how properties of a wind turbine system change when the size of a wing is similarly enlarged. In accordance to enlarging the wing, all components of the wind turbine system will be changed. T...hen, the properties of the wind turbine system can be characterized by an index of power for the wing length. For example, wing power is called having the index 2, since it becomes four times, when the size of the wing becomes double. In this way, the feature of the properties of horizontal-axis type wind turbine systems are specified with the scale indexes. It is found that there is a difference between a large and a small wind turbine system. The difference comes from whether the wind turbine system has a gearbox or not.show more
