Analysis of temperature distribution in multi-crystalline silicon of a casting method with multi heater system

Abstract Ingot-casting method is an effective and important method for producing high efficient solar cells with using multi-crystalline silicon. High quality multi-crystalline silicon conducts to high efficie...nt solar cells. It is important to analyze thermal field and convection of melt in the crucible to optimize ingot-casting method. 2D axisymmetric global simulation was carried out for silicon crystal growth. The global model of heat transfer in the furnace includes the convective heat transfer of melt, the conductive heat transfer in all components, and the radiative heat transfer among all components in the furnace. Heater power was divided into upper and lower heaters. Distribution of power in the upper and the lower heaters increased and decreased gradually, respectively. The effect of heat distribution in the upper and lower heaters on the thermal field and convection of melt in the crucible are studied.show more
