Abstract | In the medical field, radiation is used for various examinations and treatments. The number of radiological examinations is increasing internationally. Radiation is regulated by national legislation t...o ensure the safety of workers and the public who use radiation effectively. In recent years, surgical imaging machines used in surgery have become widespread. The use of radiation except of the diagnostic imaging department is increasing, and radiation management of patients and radiation workers is addressed as a problem in International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) Publication 117. Furthermore, ICRP has issued a statement to reduce the equivalent dose limit of the eye lens to an average of 20 mSv annually over five years. They presented the scientific evidence at ICRP Publication 118. This statement has raised interest in lens exposure in the medical field, its assessment, and protection methods. This paper reports on the current status of radiation exposure in the medical field and how to manage them.show more |
