Abstract The relationship between the self-management by myocardial infarction patients and self-regulated learning was discussed. The difficulty in the self-management of myocardial infarction patients is tha...t even though patients understand the necessity of dietary restriction and exercise, it does not necessarily lead to actual implementation. It is found in the research of self-management by myocardial infarction patients that social support is very effective for the purpose of preventing the relapse of the disease, and the support of family members and medical professionals, in particular, is strongly related to it. In order for the patients to enhance their self-regulated learning ability, it is important that the medical professionals involved in this matter establish specific and short-term goals and build up these goals. Although there has been some research on self-regulated learning targeting high school and university students, there has been no research investigating the effect of myocardial infarction patients’ self-regulated learning ability on their self-management. Accordingly, it is important to investigate the relationship between self-regulated learning ability and various factors such as their attitude toward life having an effect on the self-management by myocardial infarction patients, the support of medical professionals and families, and the health maintenance ability of a sense of coherence(SOC).show more
