Abstract In this study, I report on an investigation into the speech perception concerning the Japanese syllables [k^ji] and [tɕi]. Children occasionally use the phonetic substitution by the process of the art...iculation development for these two sounds. An external monitor examined a group of 42 children with the articulation disorder. The B group (average age six years old) showed improved the results greater than the A group (Average age four years old 11 months). In group A, there was a word from which had a tendency to permit the phonetic substitution. Moreover, there was a word to which the mistake continued even in the B group. This investigation gives an insight into a solution to the articulation disorder that is difficult to overcome.show more
