Abstract The aim of this paper is to clarify the philosophical principle of Russell's educational thought. This principle is derived from Russell's theory of the "neutral monism", so that we should make out wh...at is the "neutral monism". According to Russell, "neutral monism"- as opposed to idealistic monism and materialistic monism- is the theory that the things commonly regarded as mental and the things commonly regarded as physical do not differ in respect of any intrinsic property possessed by the one set and not by the other, but differ only in respect of arrangement and context. To conclude, this theory could have a great influence on our present view of the world, the meaning of human being and the aim of education.show more
