Abstract Nesoprosopis which is a subgenus of Hylaeus and is famous for its adaptive radiation in the Hawaiian Islands is reported from Japan for the first time, Seven species of Nesoprosopis are recognized the...re and they are divided into 2 species-groups and 5 species-subgroups. Two new taxa, Hylaeus nippon sp. n. and Hylaeus noomen sp. n. are described. European species Hylaeus pectoralis is newly reported from Japan. Hylaeus gnathylaeoides Bridwell is synonymized with Hylaeus _iZoraZis (Smith). Faunistic and zoogeographical aspects are discussed.show more
