Abstract Japanese deixis has the three "KO/SO/A" in opposition, with distant elements being indicated by either of "SO/A". The Chinese deixis is the opposition of "this/that", and only "that" can be used to in...dicate distant elements. Moreover, Chinese deixis mainly focuses on the speaker, while Japanese deixis also takes the listener into account. Therefore, Japanese learners whose mother tongue is Chinese often misuse Japanese deixis in conversation. Previously, in order to investigate this misuse of Japanese learners, a basic survey was conducted to identify the areas where Japanese learners are prone to misuse and the problems when choosing deixis. Based on the above questions, this paper will conduct a further investigation, and in order to confirm the reliability of the investigation data, a preliminary investigation will be conducted before the formal investigation. This paper summarizes the results of the preliminary investigation, the points of the problem and the problems that need to be verified in the formal investigation. At the same time, from the results of the preliminary survey, some problems in the survey data were found and improved. In the future, the improved survey data will be used in the formal survey, and the same results will be analyzed and verified with the preparatory survey.show more
