Anthocyanins in petals of Aster spathulifolius Maxim. were identified or partially characterised with chromatographic analysis. As a major anthocyanin, delphinidin 3, 5-diglucoside and its three derivatives were found in light violet flower strain. In addition to the delphinidin, small amount of cyanidin was detected in the same strain. In pink flower strain, the co-existence of two anthocyanidins, pelargonidin and cyanidin, were observed.
