Abstract	By the establishment of fu over tenryo (天領), direct domains under the Tokugawa Shogunate, which existed in the Edo age at each area, the Meiji Restoration government succeeded to concentrate to the ce...ntral government the ruling powers of the feudal lords, before the haihanchiken (廃藩置県), that is, abolishing clans or han (藩), the domains which the feudal lords ruled particularistically, and establishing prefectures or ken (県) as the administrative jurisdiction under the centralized national government.
