Abstract |
The station system of the KamaKura Shogunate was established firstly over the Tokaido (東海道) Highway just after the formation of the Shogunate government, and, later extended to the highway between kyo...to (京都) and Hakata (博多) after the Mongol invasion. This station system helped to strengthen the power of the Shogunate by making the correspondence between the Shogunate government and the local districts rapid. This article tried to discuss mainly the organizational structure, effects and bearers of the station system in medieval Japan.show more
