In this study, we investigated the nature of “co-presence” in communication from the viewpoint of overlapping utterances. For this purpose, six pairs of same-sex couples who had good relationships tal...ked for five minutes in two situations: the same room situation and another room situation. Based on the speech data, “preceding utterance” and “followup utterance” of overlapping portions were classified as “comment,” “response,” and “laugh.” In addition, we examined each classification of “follow-up chase utterance.” The results indicated that there was a difference between the same room and another room. It was suggested that overlap in the same room had the tendency to promote conversation, active participation in the conversation, and the establishment of a trusting relationship. From these facts, it is conceivable that the participants worked together to create a conversation in a dialog space with “co-presence.” It is thought that the nature of “co-presence” is to create one thing through the collaborative work of two, including intangible things such as conversations and trusting relationships.続きを見る
