概要 The present study aimed to explore how parent-child communication changes during adolescents’ career decision making and affects adolescents’ identity. University students (n = 172) completed question...naires on parent-child communication regarding high school and university entrance examinations, identity, and parent-child relationship. Concerning parents, communication about high school entrance examinations was higher than that about university entrance examinations at the level of “assertive attitude.” Concerning children, communication about high school entrance examinations was higher than that about university entrance examinations at the level of “mutual attitude.” Parent-child communication during career decision making was classified into “receptive parents,” “controlling parents,” and “mutual parents.” In parent-child relationships, “controlling parents” were lowest in “gratitude to parents” and “individualization of parents.” However, “controlling parents” were highest in “obedience toward parents,” “repellence toward parents,” and “separation from parents.” Relationship between parent-child communication and identity was not determined. Hence, this study suggests that it is important for parents to have receptive attitude in parent-child communication during adolescents’ career decision making.続きを見る
