Abstract In recent years, Japanese language teaching materials and curricula for beginners have been actively developed in regional Japanese language education. However, during the actual support activities, t...here are many beginners who cannot receive proper guidance for Japanese language learning, since their ability to communicate with the supporters is not developed enough. Therefore, I focused on the beginners who do not have the intermediary language skills who find it most difficult to learn Japanese. After organizing their needs for learning the Japanese language, I decided to develop a learning program which can be used in the regional Japanese classroom. In this research, I made a questionnaire to clarify the beginners who are participating in regional Japanese classes and their needs for learning. As a result, I received the following answers: ① the most important purpose of participating in regional Japanese classes is to study Japanese, ② participants would like to study intensively to at least learn the necessary Japanese for daily life, ③ participants would like to learn Japanese language for daily use rather than emergencies, ④ participants want to study with others with whom they have things in rather than those at the same Japanese level.show more
