The purpose of the current research was to determine the obstacles and the possible directions of the psychological studies of Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual(LGB) identity in Japan by comparing the studies that were conducted overseas. As the result, the current research shows that the few studies regarding the development of LGB identity were found, but the studies regarding the measurement of LGB identity was barely found in Japanese studies. The current researcher concluded that the studies that can help creating the measurement of LGB identity are required in Japan. However, such studies are hard to get conducted since the LGB people themselves have different beliefs and feelings toward their own sexualities depending on their social backgrounds, as the studies that are conducted overseas noted. In the history of Japan, there were no legal prohibitions against homosexuals as well as homosexual behaviors. Furthermore, the Japanese government uses the unique identification and registration system, which is known as Koseki. Based on these social backgrounds in Japan, the current researcher posits the importance of re-examining the items of measurement, especially the dimensions of "Identity Superiority" and "Acceptance Concerns" that were developed by Mohr & Kendra (2011 ).
