Abstract |
This paper aims to clarify the current status of the modernization of housings in a modern farm village of Isan, the northeastern part of the kingdom of Thailand. Isan is a region where people speak a... dialect like Laotian and eat sticky rice instead of Thai rice, is different from other parts of the country, thus, the formation of farm villages are supposed to be different. This paper investigates Isan farm houses in Dang Pong village, 10 km outside of Khon Kaen city center, discusses the typology of houses based on the analysis of modernization process. In conclusion, the houses are modernization process. In conclusion, the houses are modernizing and there are no traditional houses of Isan in the village, stilt houses which are comparatively similar to the traditional houses have decreased. The modernization of housings began with purchases of home electric appliances like televisions and electric fans related with family get-togethers, the wide spread of such living items arouse a new living requisition, followed with home improvements such like remodeling of kitchens and toilets and internalization of spaces under floors of stilt houses.show more
