White Leghorn male chicks of 60 and 90 days of age were intramuscularly injected each other day with diethylstilbestrol (DES) at levels of 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 mg for 20 to 140 days, as already reported in detail in my previous report. Some biochemical effects of DES on the liver and blood of those chicks were studied and the following results were obtained. 1. Activities of succinoxidase, succinic dehydrogenase, tyramine oxidase, choline oxidase and esterase of the liver and phosphatase of the blood showed no marked change with the DES injection. It showed some decreasing tendency of activity of alkaline phosphatase in the liver. 2. Concentration of serum PBI of the c hicks was not altered noticeably with the DES injection. 3. Concentration of blood glucose showed no change, and that of acetone bodies showed some variable results in serum of the chicks injected with DES. 4. Concentration of vitamins A and B2 in the liver, kidney and muscle varied slightly. It appeared to increase them in some degree in the tissues of the chicks injected on high level of the hormone.
Estrogen投与により動物の生理状態に変化を来し,また標的臓器に種々の形態的変化を来すが,これらの作用機構は不明の点が少なくない.しかし結局はtissueもしくはcelllevelにおける酵素関与の諸反応に対する作用に帰し得る.Estrogenと生体内酵素との関係については,多くはネズミについてのin vitroの研究で呼吸酵素に対するestrogenの阻害作用があげられた.蛋白代謝関係ではprotease,d-amino acid oxidase, arginase, histaminase等について,脂肪代謝関係ではlipase,esterase等,神経系代謝関係ではcholine acetylase, choline esterase等についてin vivo, in vitroで各組織について研究されたが多くは不定の結果が得られた.これらestrogenと酵素作用との関係はヒナについてはあまり知られていない.Estrogenと甲状腺機能との関係については実験条件で一致しないが,HartsookらはDESの投与によりネズミの甲状腺機能が促進され,基礎代謝率の上昇を伴うことを報じている.一方家禽に対するestrogenの肥育効果は脳下垂体を介して甲状腺機能を抑制し,基礎代謝率を低下させることに由ると推測されていたが,まだ直接証明はない.前報でDES筋注のヒナで成長量の変化があり,体脂の蓄積,分布がDESレベルで変ることをみたが,この間における肝臓, 血液における生化学的変化を知るため,二三の酵素,ビタミンA,B_2,甲状腺機能の指標としての血清PBL血糖,アセトン体などに対するDES筋注の影響について研究した.
