The relationship between the activity of Solanacearum phage α, and the thermal treatments for 10 minutes at various temperature was investigated by plaque count method. After Matsumoto-Okade's method Solanacearum phage α isolated, which differed from Matsumoto-Okabe's phage on the thermal inactivation point and the host range. At the temperature varying frcm O℃ to 40℃, the activity of Solanacearum phage α. is stable when treated for 10 minutes, but above this temperature range, the activity of phage decreases strongly with the increase of temperature and at about 50℃ the phage is inactivated. The thermal inactivation point of Solanacearum phage α seems much similar to the thermal death point of Bad. solanacearum Smith.
